Evictions

Arizona’s evictions are at an all-time high. With funding cuts and an economic downturn, evictions in 2025 are expected to be even higher.  Evictions are primarily based on failure to pay rent. With the increase in rents, many tenants are priced out of the market, have lost a job, or have unexpected medical bills or other financial hardships. Constable Karyn understands the concepts of trauma-informed care and integrates them in her service response. Many evictions can be stopped when the tenant turns the keys in at the office rather than leaving them in the apartment. Karyn has spoken to several groups about the importance of communicating with the office and turning in the keys directly to the office to stop the eviction and keep it off the tenant’s credit report.

Families, Children, and Crisis

Constable Karyn ensures all parties have a plan that incorporates trauma-informed care to address the whole person, not just the current issue or symptom. Karyn shows up as non-threatening and approaches each eviction situation with the goal of providing resources and hope.

Community Safety

Constable Karyn has the compassion, knowledge, and experience to protect the victim and the community while ensuring that all parties are treated with dignity and respect. Karyn works with the landlord and tenant to bring about the best possible outcome for both parties. Sometimes the tenant has confirmation of a new residence, yet needs a few extra days. If all parties agree, the eviction can be postponed to prevent the tenant from becoming homeless.

Animal Welfare

Constable Karyn provides community resources and leadership to ensure family pets are not left behind, abused, or forgotten. When a pet is abandoned, Karyn plays an active role in contacting resources to care for the animal. She has found resources not only for cats and dogs, but also for abandoned fish and reptiles.
